Will Sombra be revealed at BlizzCon 2016? What to expect from 'Overwatch' at the event

Will Sombra be revealed at BlizzCon?

The biggest question on the minds of Overwatch players is whether Blizzard will finally unveil Sombra, the character that fans have been hunting for through an alternate reality game that has them solving riddles and searching for clues in various corners of the internet.
In recent weeks, the Sombra ARG has ramped up considerably in a new phase of the ARG that involved Sombra disrupting the debut of LumériCo's new nuclear power plant in Dorado.
That particular chapter seems to have come to a close, so it seems like a good time for Blizzard to finally release her on the public test region before she enters the live version of the game.

Class Cabriolet for 2017 Spotted with Less Camouflage / Mercedes Benz

Yes, 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet has been seen again! This time with even less camouflage.

In spite of the black and white swirls and lines, some things are for sure. There is no more that fake, whale tail spoiler on the back side, no more big rear bumper add-ons, and no more those etiquettes on the front grille. The new E-Class is about to look a lot like in the middle of smaller C-Class Cabriolet and larger S-Class Cabriolet. Well, if it’s a Mercedes, then it should look like one, right? That is the reason for continuing the company’s design for cars with two doors.
Knowing that the current versions of E-Class coupe and cabriolet have the platform of the previous C-Class, there is a change for the 2017 model. The 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class will actually be supported by the same platform that the E-Class sedan and wagon are using, which is logical.
As for the interior, newest photographs taken don’t show much. What we can rely on is the interior previously spotted in May. So we predict that there won’t be huge changes when it comes to styling and features inside the car.
When it comes to the base powertrains of the cabriolet, Mercedes will probably use the existing engine versions that are used for sedan and wagon. Those would be a 135kW/300Nm 2.0-litre turbocharged gasoline unit (E200), 143kW/400Nm 2.0-litre turbo-diesel (E220d) and another 2.0-litre turbo petrol (E300) developing 180kW and 370Nm. Of course, if 2.0 is not enough, there are always bigger solutions. You can choose between a 190kW/620Nm 3.0-litre turbo-diesel (E350d) and the 245kW/480Nm 3.0-litre twin-turbo gasoline (E400) as the strongest version available. All of these will have an automatic transmission with nine gears

Of course, the model to admire the most when it comes to E-Class is AMG E63. We have seen a brochure that leaked from Russia and, we must say, watch out! The AMG E63 model will produce 420 kW and 750 Nm from the new Mercedes-Benz 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, while the even hotter E63 S will have an output of 450 kW and 850Nm. The AMG E63 will be able to sprint from 0-100km/h in just 3.7 seconds. In addition, the version with the S sign will be completing the same task in impressive 3.5 seconds! The coupe is expected to have similar results, but in some cases, it is logical that the top-off model will have 0.1 or 0.2 seconds slower time. Its car body is a bit different because of the roof mechanism and it is heavier due to the folding roof. That’s not all. There will also be an AMG E43 version. It will be powered by a 295kW/520Nm 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6. This engine in the E-Class needs only 4.6 seconds to reach 100km/h speed.

Performances, Luxury, Style, All In One Electric Car / 2017 Tesla Model S P90D

Performances, Luxury, Style, All In One Electric Car / 2017 Tesla Model S P90D

Many cars including BMW i3, the Nissan LEAF and similar can commute at least 100 kilometers per charge in perfect driving conditions. However, the Tesla Model S Sedan andModel X SUV top that by far and these two vehicles can reach a gas-free commuting level of 437 km and in some cases even more. The new Chevrolet Bolt will be a bitter rival toTesla as soon as it hits the market.
Tesla has presented Model 3 Concept this summer and already hundreds of thousands of people have pre-order it. More people consider that an electric car is a great way to get rid of gas pumps. Although the Model 3 hasn’t reached the production line yet, the interest to buy this car has gone through the roof. But, is investing a large amount of money going to pay off eventually? Will the Model 3 live up to the expectations? We will have to wait and see. Meanwhile, the Tesla Model S has been put to the test.

How does it behave on the road?

Top of the range Tesla Model S takes only 2.6 seconds in a 0 to 100km/h run. Just for comparison, the Lamborghini Aventador SV has the same result. What is specific for electric motors is that they can cater full power right away, and do all that without being too loud.

The price

The Model S P90D costs $132,000 without any additional options, so yes, the car is expensive. The car that was tested had many upgrades and optional equipment, and its price was stunning $197,500. The cheapest trim – the Model S 60 comes at $75,000 which is still a lot of money for average people. Is it profitable in the long term? We used a CAA Electric Vehicle Cost Calculator, and if you drive Model S P90D for 20,000 km, you will spend $1,024 per year. To get a general idea, we compared Model S to a Honda Civic for which you would have to set aside about $1,870 for fuel on a yearly basis. But can these two really compare?

Charging the car

The car comes with the adapters that will allow you to charge your vehicle at home. They use a standard 110-volt outlet, but that takes too much time to recharge. For example, if the battery on P90D is completely depleted, you will have to wait more than 82 hours for it to go back to full. Even after you drive only 80km it takes more than 15 hours to recharge it.

Hopefully, there will be more of these stations in the future. The simplest way would be to install a 240-volt outlet which is efficient, and your battery would be full in less than eight hours.

Chevy Bolt could spark a revolution

Chevy Bolt could spark a revolution

 Chevrolet’s new Bolt electric car.
Not only is it going to have even better range than anyone expected, it’s actually fun to drive, as I found out this week when I tested a pre-production model. It’s no Tesla Model S, but that’s not bad, because it costs tens of thousands of dollars less.
Indeed, the Bolt looks like it will be the first practical EV, offering not only an affordable price, but enough range to meet most everyone’s day-to-day needs. What’s more, the car, which is due out later this year, has the chance to spark the industry, luring more people into electric vehicles while spurring manufacturers to make better ones.
“This is a good thing for the EV movement,” said Gabriel Shenhar, a Consumer Reports program manager who focuses on electric vehicles
An exterior view of the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt all-electric car, which boasts a greater range than the base-model Tesla Model S. The Bolt is said to be able to travel 238 miles on a full charge. (Troy Wolverton/Bay Area News Group)
Chevy shocked the car industry earlier this week when it announced the Environmental Protection Agency has estimated the Bolt will have a range of 238 miles on a full charge. The company had said it was planning to hit a 200-mile target, but few expected the car would go as far as the EPA says it will.
The Bolt appears to have gotten the jump on Tesla. The Palo Alto electric car maker sparked lots of excitement and garnered hundreds of thousands of reservations when it unveiled its upcoming Model 3 earlier this year. With a 215-mile range and a $35,000 price tag, that car had been poised to be the first practical electric car for the masses. But it’s not due out until next year.

After test driving the Bolt, I doubt Tesla fans will regret waiting another year for the Model 3, because the Bolt lacks some of the Model 3’s expected pizzazz. But if you’re interested in an affordable all-electric vehicle, and you want one sooner rather than later, the Bolt is easily the best on the market right now.

Its range alone puts it over the top, of course. Electric vehicles have had to contend with potential customers’ range anxiety issues for years now. Those fears tend to be overblown, because most people won’t exhaust the batteries of even the shortest-range electric cars on a daily basis.
But their curtailed range does limit how users can drive electric cars and requires them to do more planning than they would with a gasoline car. It can be more difficult for EVs to accommodate unexpected errands or an impulse trip to the countryside.
The Bolt helps to relieve the anxiety and better accommodate unexpected trips. A 238-mile range will get you from San Jose to South Lake Tahoe with a few miles to spare; it’s more than enough for the daily commuting and errand running done by the vast majority of people.
But the Bolt is attractive for more than just it range. For one thing, it’s a zippy car. Chevy says it will go from 0 to 60 in about 7 seconds. That’s not sports-car fast, but it’s plenty peppy. It’s also quiet and nimble.
Chevy is packing the Bolt with many of its latest electronics and technological advancements. It’s got a 14-inch infotainment center display and is compatible with both Android Auto and Apple’s CarPlay. It has a built-in LTE antenna, which owners can use to create a mobile hotspot for tablets and phones. Owners will also have the option to add several semiautonomous features to the Bolt, including lane-keeping assistance technology and automatic braking.

Tesla, SolarCity set to announce their merger today

Tesla Motors Inc and SolarCity Corp could announce they have agreed to merge as early as Monday, people familiar with the matter said, setting the stage for a campaign to convince the two companies' shareholders to back the deal.
Combining the clean energy car maker with the solar panel installer is a major part of billionaire Elon Musk's strategy, who earlier in July unveiled his master plan "part deux" that calls for the combined company to offer consumers a single source of hardware to power a low-carbon lifestyle.
While Musk is chief executive of Tesla, chairman of SolarCity and the biggest shareholder in both companies, a merger agreement was not certain because SolarCity had formed a special committee to review Tesla's offer independent of the influence of Musk and other executives close to him.
The merger agreement is likely to include a so-called go-shop provision that will allow SolarCity to continue to solicit offers from other potential buyers for a short period of time following its signing, the people said on Sunday.
The exact terms of the deal could not be learned. Tesla had previously said it offered 0.122 to 0.131 of its shares for each SolarCity share.
The sources asked not to be identified because the negotiations are confidential. Tesla and SolarCity, which have market capitalizations of $34.6 billion and $2.6 billion respectively, declined to comment.
Musk has argued that combining Tesla with SolarCity will allow the combined company to reach consumers more effectively, installing solar panels on their roofs, sending power to Tesla storage batteries in their homes, and Tesla cars in their garages. Batteries from Tesla's $5 billion Gigafactory outside Sparks, Nevada, will be central to the combined enterprises.
Tesla shareholders have gradually warmed up to the deal with SolarCity following initial apprehension after Tesla announced its offer on June 21. After dropping to below $190 per share following the offer, Tesla shares have recovered and ended trading on Friday at $234.79. SolarCity shares closed at $26.70 Friday.
Reuters first reported last week that Tesla and SolarCity were close to a merger agreement.
Besides Musk, several Tesla and SolarCity executives, including Musk's cousins, SolarCity CEO Lyndon Rive and SolarCity board member Peter Rive, have recused themselves from voting their shares when the deal comes to a vote.
Tesla is scheduled to release its second-quarter results on Aug. 3.
The company said earlier this month that its deliveries for the quarter fell short of its forecasts. Analysts will be looking for signs that the company is containing its costs and slowing its cash burn.
Tesla took a hit on June 30 when the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration disclosed it was investigating a fatal accident that killed the driver of a Tesla Model S while he was using the car's 'Autopilot' system, which takes partial control of steering and braking.
Since then, Musk has both defended the Autopilot technology, and moved aggressively to change the subject.

Volkswagen executive ordered to pay back expenses

Volkswagen executive ordered to pay back expenses
FRANKFURT: The head of Volkswagen's luxury unit Audi has been ordered to reimburse the car maker for the costs of a party that the car maker had initially paid for, a German weekly reported.
Audi Chief Executive Rupert Stadler has paid back 12,500 euros ($13,980) that he had expensed for a 'beer contest' with about 30 top managers in May 2015, after an internal revision reclassified the event as a private party, Bild am Sonntag reported.
Audi, where part of Volkswagen's defeat software was developed that lies at the heart of its emissions scandal, declined to comment on Sunday.
Expenses are a hotly debated matter in Germany, where the secretary of an industrial association was fired in 2009 after admitting to the theft of one meatball, while executives are often viewed as enjoying too many opportunities to expense private luxuries. ($1 = 0.8944 euros)

Guwahati holds workshop on car safety

GUWAHATI: A consumer rights organization in Assam has pressed for strict protection of consumers' rights by the car manufacturers while delivering vehicles to buyers, to ensure safe vehicles on the roads and check accidents.
The Consumers' Legal Protection Forum (CLPF) organized a state-level workshop on car safety on Sunday here. It urged vehicle manufacturers across the country to strictly comply with the standard safety norms during production. This will protect consumers' lives.
"Being the sixth largest market in the world, India sold 2.03 million cars last year. Approximately 1,374 road accidents and 400 deaths are reported nationwide on an average everyday. One of the major reasons behind high causalities in road accidents is the lack of safety features in cars manufactured in the country. They have been criticized as being ineffective compared to that of the developed nations," said advocate Ajoy Hazarika, secretary, CLPF.
An automobile expert Mrinal Medhi said most of the cars sold in the country lacked the basic safety features. "Essential safety features like air bags, anti-lock braking systems, electronic stability control devices are not easily available in Indian cars. In absence of strict safety regulations and testing procedures like global New Car Assessment Programme (NCAP), car manufactures design their cars in the country without essential safety features in name of cost cutting. Recently when some of popular cars in India were tested on global NCAP standards, four out of five failed to meet the standards," Medhi added

Racer hurt at JK Tyre national racing championship

COIMBATORE: While on day one of the JK Tyre national racing championship, Akhil Rabindra's car flipped, the day two of the championship also had its share of accidents. Sudarshan Rao Karwal, a 31-year-old racer from Bengaluru, who was looking for a podium finish was in his final lap (15th lap) when Rahul Rangasamy's car brushed against his car. Immediately his car flipped and after five flips it crashed.

A medical team was rushed to Sudarshan and he was shifted into an ambulance. After keeping him under observation for a few minutes, he was immediately taken to a city hospital for check-up. But the organisers confirmed that he was out of danger and might get discharged the same night.

Just a few seconds before this incident, the dark don racer, Ashwin Sunder's car was clipped by his teammate Rohit Khanna. Because of this, his brakes got locked and his car went off the track into the mud track. But he did not suffer any injuries.

The authorities will hold an enquiry with both Rahul Rangasamy and Sudarshan Rao

German authorities approve diesel engines of GM's Opel unit

FRANKFURT: Germany's Federal Office for Motor Vehicles has approved diesel engines of General Motors' Opel unit, after initial doubts about whether the engine control software was permissible, weekly Bild am Sonntag reported.
Engines of the 2.0 CDTI type which are built into Insignia, Cascada or Zafira branded cars have been cleared, the paper reported.
Opel had no comment while the Federal Office for Motor Vehicles was not immediately available for comment.
A German investigating committee earlier this year shortlisted 30 car models which showed suspiciously high levels of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions for further testing after Volkswagen admitted it cheated U.S. emissions tests by installing software capable of deceiving regulators.
Among the carmakers under scrutiny was Opel which had admitted that its Zafira model includes engine software that switches off exhaust treatment systems under certain circumstances.

Winter driving tips

Winter driving tips

1. Keep driving

It might sound basic, but your battery only charges while the engine’s being used. Short journeys, or not using the car at all, will gradually flatten the battery. If you don’t need to do lots of journeys, consider investing in an external battery charger.

2. Switch off

All sorts of equipment can put unnecessary load on a battery. Heaters, wipers and lights are the obvious things, but also remember to unplug items from the 12V socket and USB ports as well.

3. Ease the strain

Depressing the clutch when starting the engine can help take the strain off your car. It reduces the effort needed to start, and therefore takes away some of the load on the battery.

4. Check your battery

You can do a visual check every time you lift the bonnet to look for corrosion, but it’s worth getting a professional inspection, too. If you’ve bought a used car, check the manual and make sure the previous owner had the correct battery installed.

• How to jump-start your car

5. Check other battery-related systems

If you’re concerned, get a professional to check over the alternator, starting system and charging systems for the car and battery. If any of these are malfunctioning, it could result in the battery being overcharged, undercharged or in some cases not charged at all – all of which will affect battery life.

6. Service your car

A poorly maintained vehicle can put extra strain on the battery – from underinflated tyres to an overworked engine. And if you have a garage, keep your car in it; warmer temperatures are better for batteries.

7. Know the warning signs

Noises like clicks as you turn the ignition, dashboard lights going dim or the engine turning over very slowly are all signs that a battery is flatter than it should be.

8. Don’t persevere

A battery won’t magically regain charge; if it fails to start the engine, stop trying, as you’ll only flatten it further for no reason.

9. Safety first

If you’ve conked out in a dangerous place – next to a junction, for example – try to get the car somewhere safer before continuing. See if some passers-by will help push.

10. Be ready to jump start

In an emergency, you may need to jump start the car. Keep a set of jump leads in the boot and learn the procedure.

All parts of your car need looking after as the winter weather gets colder and colder, but none more so than your battery. Cold weather changes the chemical process within the battery, meaning it doesn’t work as efficiently as it should. This can have a devastating effect on your morning if a flat battery means your car simply won’t start.

Flat batteries are the number one cause of RAC callouts during the winter months, so we teamed up with one of the breakdown operator’s patrolmen, Charlie Harding, to put together some top tips for keeping mobile this winter.

Volkswagen at CES 2016 to present “completely new concept

Volkswagen  at CES 2016  to present “completely new concept

Volkswagen will reveal a brand-new concept car at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) early next year. Exact details such as bodyshape and powertrain will be revealed on the eve of the show, during a keynote speech from Chairman of Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Dr Herbert Diess.

The new model was widely anticipated to be an updated all-electric version of the Bulli Microbus concept, though bosses hint those plans have been shelved in favour of a “completely new concept car to illustrate the major changes that the car is set to go through in the next few years”.

VW says the main focus of Diess’s speech will be the latest developments in the brand’s electric vehicles, as well as the next-generation of connectivity. It’ll apparently mark the beginning of a new era of affordable long-distance electromobility, too.

Last year, VW revealed the Golf R Touch concept at CES, and information suggests that many of that car’s hi-tech features will also feature on 2016’s concept. This, bosses say, “will see innovations finding their way into Volkswagen’s broad product portfolio.”

Only one teaser image has so far been released, and it’s tricky to garner anything concrete from it. That said, the striking LED headlights and bold grille look to build on the brand’s current expressive design language, while the C-shaped DRLs are lifted straight from VW’s all-electric e-Golf and Passat GTE plug-in hybrid.

The shape and size of the car is still under wraps – quite literally – but we’ll likely have more information nearer the time, with the show kicking off on 6 January.
