CW Renews Arrow, Supergirl, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow the 2017...

CW Renews Arrow, Supergirl, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow the 2017-2018

The CW has built its viewership thanks to the success of the DC shows, which aired on four different nights in the fall. After Arrow's strong debut in 2012, the CW created a shared "DC TV" universe with The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow in 2014 and 2015.

The CW also acquired Supergirl from CBS (which owns half of the CW) after its first season. While Supergirl technically exists in a separate universe from the CW's other superhero shows, the title heroine has dimension hopped several times to crossover with those series.

When announcing the news, CW president Mark Pedowitz noted that the early renewals of the shows gave showrunners time to plan for next season. Premiere dates will be announced at a later time.

Notably, the CW has not announced renewals for iZombie and Riverdale, two comic book shows that haven't yet aired this season. Their fates will likely rest on the strength of CW's midseasons rating. The 100 and The Originals have also not yet been renewed for next fall.

The CW will also have some programming holes to fill next year. The Vampire Diaries and Reign will both end this spring, and rookie shows Frequency and No Tomorrow were not given additional episode orders, which could hint that the CW will not pick them up for a second season.

Windows 10 to get a “game mode " 2017

Windows 10 to get a “game mode

Software King of the World Microsoft is planning to bring in a “game mode” for Windows 10 to spruce up PC games.

A Twitter user who goes by the name WalkingCat claimed that a new feature may be on the way in Windows 10 that improves performance when playing PC games. He found a file in a leaked version of a new update.

WalkingCat said that a dll called "gamemode" was under the bonnet of the latest build of Windows 10 (version 14997). He said that it "looks like Windows will adjust its resource allocation logic (for CPU/[graphics] etc.)" to prioritise game performance.

This is like the way that the Xbox One runs a game. The feature will reportedly launch as part of the Creators update and will be enabled for Windows Insider users soon. The Creators update will be around in spring.

Obviously, it will not work with all games and it might only be limited to those you can get from the Windows Store.

Vole has hinted that Windows 10 will have features of interest to those playing games, including new streaming and tournament features, but this is the first time we have heard of a game mode being developed. It will be interesting to see if it plays nice with the settings on GPUs or if it will create a whole new range of reasons a game might go tits up.

The Division was one of the 12 best sellers of the year
Rainbow Six Siege and Warframe are both in the top 24
Doom didn't crack the top 12, but it may have gotten close: it's ranked somewhere between 13th and 24th
Despite uncertain reports about its sales, Watch Dogs 2 was one of the 25th-40th best selling games on Steam
As was The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited
Far Cry Primal, which we felt was quickly forgotten, also cracked the 25-40 tier
Older games that stuck around in the Bronze (41-100) tier: Left 4 Dead 2, Borderlands 2 (and The Pre-Sequel), Garry's Mod, Kerbal Space Program, The Sims 3, Dishonored
Almost all of these games are between 10-75% off. Valve didn't announce when this sale is ending, but my guess is that it'll conclude either tomorrow (as the Steam Winter Sale ends) or later in the week.

The games that are at their highest level of discount include:

Ark: Survival Evolved ($12, 60% off)
Dark Souls 3 ($30, 50% off)
Subnautica ($10, 50% off)
Kerbal Space Program ($13.59, 66% off)
